Calor Gas introduced Patio gas to their range of Gas cylinders due to the demand for Patio heaters and Gas BBQ. Although a Green Bottle it is  a propane bottle but uses a clip on regulator 27mm.
  • Dimensions : Height-580mm Diameter-315mm
  • For gas BBQ and patio heaters
  • Regulator type: 27mm Clip on
  • Recommended Offtake : 15 kW (1.05 kg/h)

What is the difference between Propane and Butane gas ?

LPG boils to produce gas (vapour):

  • Propane boils at -42°C so can be used in arctic conditions.
  • Butane boils at -0.5°C so when the ambient temperature falls to around freezing no gas is produced and even at around +4°C the pressure is often too low to be useful.

  • Can I exchange my orange bottle for the green patio gas bottle

    Hello,

    Thank you for your enquiry.

    Unfortunately, it is not possible to exchange a Propane Red cylinder for a Patio Gas cylinder.

    In addition, as of 27/05/2026, Calor Gas has ceased temporarily issuing new cylinder agreements for Patio Gas bottles. Patio Gas refills are now available on a like-for-like exchange basis only.

  • How much would a 13kg bottle of patio gas cost please. This would include the cylinder. I am a new buyer and do not have a cylinder to refill. Thanks

    Hello,Thank you for your enquiry. All Calor gas bottles require a one-time cylinder hire charge. For a 13kg Patio gas bottle, the hire cost is £54.99 (including VAT). In addition, you will need to pay for the gas itself, which is currently £52.50. This means the total cost for your first bottle will be £107.49. After the initial purchase, you will only need to pay the refill cost of £52.50 for subsequent exchanges.

    Please note that all prices and policies are correct as of 25 April 2026. Price increases will come into effect from 18 May 2026. Kind regards Clare
